HI, I KNOW you are a great graphic maker, but i have a doubt. i wanna make something like your graphics. but idk how to make the lines, points and these things. i mean graphics with typography. can you help me, just tell me how can i use photoshop to make these things. :)

Well, what you need my dear friend, is a lesson in vectorizing. Photoshop has cool features that’ll allow you to do the basics but if you really want to get into it then I suggest downloading Adobe Illustrator, which allows you to do like a lot of stuff. Now, you may be saying to yourself, wow, this bitch is giving me the most cryptic answer in the entire world she’s such a ho, but the truth is… I don’t know much about the whole thing myself, and my teaching skills are nonexistent SO imma just link you to a swanky tutorial: http://psd.tutsplus.com/tutorials/tools-tips/photoshops-pen-tool-the-comprehensive-guide/

You can find loads more on the interwebz.

**these links should work, and if not then i’m sorry >.< anyways, if they break, just shoot me an ask letting me know! also, i’ll probably go back and add a few other places to download from over time, just so that if one breaks then there’s a back-up.

So, also I’m not quite sure as to which links work for the MAC exactly and which ones don’t, there’s two listed that I know work for sure but then the rest are up to trial and error by you I suppose ~

  • Photoshop Cs3; (x) (x) (x) (x)
  • Photoshop Cs4; (x) (x) (x)
  • Photoshop Cs5; (x) (x) (x) (x) (x) (x)
  • Links that work for the mac for sure; (x) (x)

how do you make that different colored shadow behind some text (e.g the text is pink and behind theres a blue shadow)

Well i just go to the little FX button at the bottom of my layer tab, and then I go to Drop Shadow and adjust the settings there :)

gershons: or you can duplicate the text, change the color and move the layer under the main text and move it. fin.

sorry i mean the banner in the graphic ficciones lol

Okay, I am positive that there are many less retarded ways in which you can do this, but this is me we’re talking about. So…

I just used the rectangular marquee tool to make my initial shape and filled it with the bucket tool. Then using the Eliptical marquee tool I made a very elongated oval and deleted the bottom part.

And now I moved my selection upwards and inversed it (Shift + Alt + I or Select > Inverse) And started to delete the top part.. And here’s where my stupid shines through..

I don’t even know what I did there, I just selected the shape I wanted using the Polygonal Lasso and filled it with a darker color than the one I used on the first shape to give it some dimension.

Then I flipped it and put it on the other side and that’s pretty much it… Now, you can do all that or you can simply download the .PSD of the one I just made here.

*You can change the colors by using the Color Overlay thingie in each of the separate layers.

How in the world did you get the picture to look this way?

It’s quite easy, actually. I just sort of drew over the original picture using the polygonnal lasso and a brush creating seperate layers for each different color and then I just threw in a papery texture on top once I was done :)

Hi! I struggle with the grain setting a lot... what sort of settings would you suggest to get a good grainy look? Thank you for your time!

Well, I usually go with a low intensity and leave the contrast close to 50. It also helps to add a texture on top of it and play around with the blending mode…

what texture did you use in your dreamers poster edit?

I added some grain first, then I duplicated the layer and I pixelated it, erased the parts that I wanted to be ~normal then I used this one, and this one (slayground), and theen this one. Phew.

here’s the link for the tutorial: http://www.ex-posed.com/resources/tutorial/channelcrop/channelcrop.html

It only works with some images though, but ugh it is fantastic.

where do you download your patterns and brushes ?

Well, for the most part my brushes come from random images from the internet, and I sometimes use my own scans as textures. However I think you’ll find everything you need in these blogs:

mellowmint | velvetfactory | sanami276 | fuckyeahresources | crazykira-resources | physicalmagic | psychadeliachild | northerndawn | slayground
yellowlemon | gemmaarterton | wicked-fate

P.S. Hipster blogs are an amazing source for textures!

do you know where i can download photoshop?

the internet

omg I’m so funny

yeah you have to go to the Adobe site and download the legit version as a trial first and then download this torrent and follow the instructions. And then you have to do what wingfoo says in the 9th page of the comments and voila.

I wish you luck.
